I based the rank and file on the British rifleman’s jacket in order to make a connection with a popular Napoleonic ITV series based on a Rifle officer. The reason behind this was most people have seen these programs and would make a connection with the time line and maybe understand the uniforms a little more.
The only thing I changed was the facing colour, ie collar and cuffs. From black to red. Unfortunately there was a regiment in the British army at the time with those colours. So I put red tufts on the shoulders and piped the collars and cuffs with white piping.
