The one thing that was very clear was that a lot of officer’s uniforms had braiding up the front, no matter which army it was in, so I kept that in mind. The short bum freezer jacket was used in most armies of the time. Especially in the cavalry regiments. I therefore based the design on this style. Red was then requested by the producers as a main colour as well as the green. So I put red braiding on the front of the officers jackets based on a French cavalry regiment and a British Rifle regiment but put the braiding a little wider as not to overpower the green.
So you now have from top to bottom. Red collar, green bum freezer jacket, with red braiding on the front, from half an inch below the collar to the bottom of the jacket, with red cuffs and two lines of red braiding following the contours of the V-shape cuff.
